Training Classes

Camp Curious Canine began as a training school under the name “The Curious Canine.”  Though we have expanded our operations to include day camp, we remain committed to assisting dog owners with all of their behavioral needs. Staffed by trainers with years of experience, we offer a wide range of classes that are relaxed and fun.  Our goal is to help you mold your “curious canine” into a well-mannered family pet who will be welcomed anywhere.

Why choose  us?

  • Positive training methods. We don’t use choke chains or other harsh training methods.  Instead, we focus on fostering a loving, trusting relationship between you and your dog through the use of positive training.
  • Small class sizes. With a limited number of students per class, you’re guaranteed the individual attention that you deserve.  Also, most of our classes are staffed by an instructor as well as at least one assistant.
  • Classes for all ages (canine and otherwise). Old dogs can learn new tricks!  We offer classes for dogs of all ages.  We also allow children in all of our basic classes and offer occasional dog safety workshops, to help train the trainers of tomorrow!
  • AKC Canine Good Citizen® testing. Three of our instructors are certified to administer the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen® test.  We also offer CGC preparatory classes.

Please browse our class listing below.  Feel free to stop by and observe any of our classes, and don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.  If you’re interested in classes, you may also download our class application.

This class is for the owner who completed our 6 week Beginner 1 Level Class and wants to continue to their training but needs some extra time before moving on to the Advanced Beginner Class.  Some dogs need extra time and this is the perfect class to work on those skills and excel.  Upon your final week of Beginner 1 Level your instructor will recommend which class you should progress on to with your dog.

Advanced Beginner and Novice Classes:

Dogs who have completed the Beginner class are eligible to enroll in an Advanced Beginner class, and dogs who have completed Advanced Beginner are eligible for Novice/Rally.  We cover both new and old behaviors.  These classes add increased distractions and distance to the “stay” commands.  We cover off-leash heeling.  Out-of-sight “stays” are introduced.  For students wishing to complete the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen® test, we cover all required skills in these classes.

These classes are 6-weeks long, and cost $135.00 each.  Sessions are one hour long per week.

Agility for Fun Class:

This 6-week class will introduce students to basic agility equipment, including: jumps, tunnels, “tires,” the pause table, weave polls, and more.  Give agility a try in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere.   Because this class is high-energy, sessions are 45 minutes long each week.  The cost is $135.00.
